As most of us are aware, Jersey Shore was a popular show on MTV a few years ago. Luckily for its viewers, the show has returned to MTV known as “Jersey Shore Family Vacation!” The new show takes the original cast member of Jersey Shore to Miami to have a family vacation. However, this trip almost ended as a ‘staycation’ for Jersey Shore star Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino.
In January, 2018, Mike pleaded guilty to tax evasion and agreed to a deal that could potentially place him behind bars for up to 5 years. Back in 2014, Mike and his brother were charged with conspiracy to commit fraud after the government claimed they failed to pay all of their federal income taxes owed on Mike’s income from 2010 to 2012. Then, Mike was struck with more charges of tax evasion and structuring funds to evade currency-transaction reports in April 2017. Initially, Mike pleaded not guilty for filing the bogus tax returns and claiming that millions of dollars in personal expenses were actually business expenses. Now, he has admitted to his wrongdoings and has publicly stated that he accepts full responsibility and consequences for his actions, almost turning his family vacation into a solo ‘staycation.’
Mike was originally scheduled to be sentenced on April 25, which was originally pushed back to August 18 and was pushed back again to October 2. This final request to push it back after August was due to a “long-planned family vacation” and that the reality star is planning to marry his long-time college sweetheart, Lauren Pesce prior to his sentencing in case he ends up in jail. Hopefully the newly-weds will be able to enjoy the honeymoon phase, rather than having weekly visitations in a correctional facility.
